Water preparation for your ultrasound is essential to achieve beautiful ultrasound photos.
Follow the instructions below to prepare for your Miracle Beginnings ultrasound appointment.
Before your ultrasound
The quality and clarity of your ultrasound images is dependent on the volume of amniotic fluid surrounding your baby. The more fluid surrounding your baby, the clearer your images will be.
The amniotic fluid creates the space around the baby that we need to use in ultrasound to capture beautiful images of your baby.
Ensure you follow the below instructions to prepare for you ultrasound.
Water preparation
We strongly recommend and encourage you to try drink a minimum of 2 to 3 litres of water a day, for at least 7-10 days before your ultrasound appointment.
If water is too boring, you can try hydrolyte or Gatorade. Stay away from caffeine as that may dehydrate you.
Trying to binge drink water the day before your scan will not help the clarity of your images as it takes time for the fluid to build up around baby.
Failure to follow these recommendations may result in substandard images.
If you are between 10 and 13 weeks pregnant, please arrive at the scan with a full bladder.
If you are 14 weeks or more, you do not need to have a full bladder for your ultrasound.
