Water preparation for your ultrasound is essential to achieve beautiful ultrasound photos.
Follow the instructions below to prepare for your Miracle Beginnings ultrasound appointment.
Before your ultrasound
The quality and clarity of your ultrasound images depend largely on the amount of amniotic fluid surrounding your baby. The more fluid present, the more space there is around your baby’s face—allowing us to capture clear, beautiful images.
Amniotic fluid acts as a window, helping us achieve the best possible views during your session.
To help us get the best results, please follow the hydration instructions below to prepare for your ultrasound.

Water preparation
We strongly recommend and encourage you to try drink a minimum of 2 to 3 litres of water a day, for at least 7-10 days before your ultrasound appointment.
Helpful Tips for Staying Hydrated
If plain water feels a bit boring, you can try mixing it up with options like Hydralyte or Gatorade to help maintain hydration.
Just be sure to avoid caffeinated drinks, as caffeine can have a dehydrating effect.
💧 Remember: Drinking large amounts of water the day before your scan won’t improve your images.
It takes several days for increased fluid intake to help build up the amniotic fluid around your baby. That’s why it’s important to stay consistently hydrated for at least 7 days before your appointment.
Failure to follow these recommendations may result in substandard images.
If you are between 10 and 13 weeks pregnant, please arrive at the scan with a full bladder.
If you are 14 weeks or more, you do not need to have a full bladder for your ultrasound.
